Programs
Our main goals are to SHOW UP FOR THE STUDENTS, SUPPORT THE TEACHERS, and BUILD RELATIONSHIPS. These align with the HEB ISD strategic pillars including: Student Success, Employee Success, Family and Community Partnerships
IN-SCHOOL READING PROGRAM
My Village Library partners with Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD campuses to provide first and second grade students during the school day. Mentors spend time reading with students individually, in small groups, and occasionally in a larger group. Struggling students are recognized by teachers and reading specialists. Groups meet weekly reading times to build student vocabulary, comprehension and confidence while discovering the joy of reading.
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
My Village Library offers mentoring through academic activities designed with the whole child in mind in a safe, supportive environment. Students build confidence in themselves and develop vital life skills to be successful throughout K-12 education and beyond to the workforce. We excite students about learning, prepare them to be successful, empower them to solve problems and release them to be lifelong learners.
My Village mentors are trained to understand the work that the district has recognized as important for students to grow and be successful in school. The work at My Village Library also encourages and supports parents to help their students succeed as well.
As a recognized non-profit partner, My Village Library play vital role in the HEB ISD Strategic Pillars of Student Success, Employee Success and Family and Community Partnerships.
By showing up for students and families, supporting teachers, and building relationships, My Village Library is creating a world of lifelong learners.
My Village U
My Village U are programs designed to help volunteers and families continue to learn together. These once a month learning opportunities include hands-on activities, conversation, current event topics and even rediscovering how to play. Everyone deserves to be Excited, Empowered and Prepared!
